Trump Threatens Lawsuit Against Powell Amid Fed Building Cost Dispute

President Donald TRUMP has escalated his ongoing feud with Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, threatening legal action over alleged mismanagement of renovation costs for Federal Reserve buildings. In a Truth Social post, Trump criticized the project's $3 billion price tag, claiming it should have cost no more than $50 million. "Three Billion Dollars for a job that should have been a $50 million fix-up. Not good," he wrote, accusing Powell of "horrible and grossly incompetent" oversight.

Congressional Republicans have joined the criticism, questioning the Fed's handling of the renovations. Former budget chief Russell Vought has accused Powell of ignoring government rules, while Powell maintains that the costs were driven by necessary repairs. Trump also took aim at former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin for supporting Powell's appointment.

Beyond the construction dispute, Trump renewed his push for interest rate cuts, blaming Powell for economic damage caused by delayed monetary policy adjustments. "The damage he has done by always being Too Late is incalculable," Trump said.
